i-pad Alice

When it comes to apple products i have a mixed reaction to them. they are brilliant inovators but they are too protective of their brand not allowing many apps for the i-product to run. I know that this means that there is less of a risk of viruses but it slightly mutes innovation and hacking. this is why i actually like windows and love Linux.

So back on topic the i-pad is out and i haven't a clue what you can use it for because it seems to be a i-phone inflated and it cant even run multiple software however low and behold something interesting for reading has come up.

and honestly I like it a lot but not enough to buy an i-pad

The art of War by Sun Tzu tweeting review

After tweeting this book I can't help that i might have made a bit of a mockery of the book. Trying to summarise any book in twitter form often means that you do loose a lot of info and sometimes some whole plots. This is certainly the case with The Art of War. The actual book of the Art of War is so short because there is already condensed and so there is no waffle. Also, trying to tweet such a book seems in its very nature an insult to Sun Tzu and the terrible part is that i know that the tweets are terrible, here is an example:

C11. #TAOW The 9 Situations: in 9 situations react in 9 different ways. Put your army hopeless situations and they will fight to the death

"in 9 situations react in 9 different ways" that's like saying there is 9 ingredients in a cake. Mix those ingredients to make cake. For those who don't know how to make a cake this comment is totally pointless. It is for this reason I do hope you actually go out of your way to find this book and read it and it's not like you have an excuse not to. Due to the magic of such pages like Google books you can read this book at your own pace.

Also there twitter account I stumbled across who is far more competent in giving a better image of Sun Tzu's work called suntzuquotes.

Anyway I'm going to try a new book now and I think this may end up reading far more better than The Art of War.

The Art of War by Sun Tzu ( Full Twitter Report)

seeing that I've finally finished tweeting about The Art Of War I thought it would be nice to give the whole book as a Twitter report.

C1. #TAOW Laying Plans: All warfare is based on deception. Choose generals wisely, Consider Heaven and earth. Many calculations = win 6:55 PM Dec 30th, 2009 from web

C2. #TAOW Waging War: Your aim is Victory not lengthy campaigns. Forage off the enemy's provisions afterwards. treat captured solders kindly

C3. #TAOW Attack by Stratagem: try not to fight. It's better to capture than destroy. Make sure your army believes in you. Know enemy & self

C4. #TAOW Tactical Dispositions: Secure yourself against defeat. The enemy weakness is key to victory.

C5. #TAOW The Army on the March: Rivers are bastards. Keep the high ground. clouds of dust can tell a lot of what your foe is up to.

C6. #TAOW Energy: There is lots of combinations of attack/ defence. choose when to strike carefully. Something about logs stones and hills.

C7. #TAOW Weak Points and Strong: Get to fights early. if the enemy strength is in the front his rear will be weak. Play mind games

C8. #TAOW Maneuvering: Move like the wind but be as compact as a forest. Use local guides. Don't take the bait the enemy gives. Study moods

C9. #TAOW Variation in Tactics: Don't change your tactics & you will fail. learn what can/can't be touched. There is 5 ways of screwing up.

C10. #TAOW Terrain: know your self, enemy and the earth and you will win. Treat your men as your own children & they will fight to the death

C11. #TAOW The 9 Situations: in 9 situations react in 9 different ways. Put your army hopeless situations and they will fight to the death

C12. #TAOW The Attack by Fire: when you set a camp on fire be downwind of it. careful because you may destroy useful items.

C13. #TAOW The Use of Spys: there are 5 types of spies. Use spies to learn more about the enemy. Bribe enemy spies. Spies help army move

Are you Dave Gorman? (by Dave Gorman & Danny Wallace) The full Twitter Report

As work took over I let this project slip a bit too far. It was no longer a daily update but more of a painful weekly update. However its finally done and now the book can happily live on my book shelf with all its happy book friends.

Are You Dave Gorman By Dave Gorman

I have already been reading this book and even though I haven’t finished it I can already highly recommend it. It has done the rarest of things that books have failed often to do and that is to make me smirk and laugh on the train. This is then followed by me quickly looking around to see if anyone has noticed me doing so.

Anyway this is a good book and I highly recommend that you read enjoy the tweets!
